Luxe Coverups For Less

It's summer. Let's talk coverups.

Your summer lifestyle deems how many coverups you need in your beachwear capsule.

How often do you go to the beach? Do you live near the beach and go multiple times a week? Do you own a pool and host day parties on the weekends? Are you planning a beach vacation getaway with your family? Are you going to a tropical island with your partner? How many times will you wear coverups this summer? Daily? Weekly? Less than that? These are all things to ask yourself before investing in a new coverup. When I say new, I mean gently used/consigned from The RealReal or elsewhere.

There are two types of coverups- #1 cheap, fast-fashion cotton or polyester dresses you can get at the neighborhood surf shop. #2 more expensive luxe high-end kaftans, kimonos, sarongs, and pareos. Luxe coverups are made of higher-quality fabrics like laces, crochet, cotton voile, linens, and lightweight silks. They also are made better, will last longer, and have that designer touch that is unique and escalated.

Going to the beach or pool is already a mood booster, but if you look good while doing it there's the cherry on top. Luxe coverups can usually take you from the day to the evening, beach to the bar, or the pool to your dinner party effortlessly with style. 

Luckily, thanks to the world of consignment, we can all live in luxe coverups for less.

You'd be surprised by the designer coverups you can find on consignment at The RealReal. Investing in full-price designer coverups isn't the best move. To be honest, investing in a full-price designer ANYTHING is not worth the money or nice to the environment. UNLESS you are planning on reselling it so someone else can use and love it next. 

What I like to do is search luxe coverups, get inspiration, then find it or something similar on consignment. It’s incredibly rewarding when you find a gem that’s less than 1/3rd of the original price. Here are a few full-price luxe coverups for inspiration. My favorite high-end luxe beachwear designers are Miguelina, Missoni, & Mara Hoffman. Then go search for something similar on The RealReal.
