Day 7️⃣: ✨MINIMALista ❤️ Your Look 👓 Challenge 👗

Let's recap: the MINIMALista Love Your Look Challenge (MLYLC) is a simple exercise to prepare you for adopting a MINIMALista lifestyle. By tracking and recording your clothing selections for two weeks, the MLYLC will reveal which of your garments you love and which are sucking up closet space.

Even though I've already embraced a capsule wardrobe philosophy, I am using the MLYLC to identify which winter garments to transition into my spring capsule collection and which style of garments I should invest in to fill in gaps.

What I wore:

1.     Core: TART Collections black and white striped tank

2.    Core: Susan Monaco black miniskirt

3.    Accessories: Gilt.com tangerine cashmere scarf; Neiman Marcus jade pendant; Marc by Marc Jacobs Metropoli cross body bag; Loeffler Randall black perforated Open Work Tote

4.    FootwearLeoffler Randall perforated Sawyer sandal

Why:

Core: Why the mini skirt, tank top and bare legs in February? Because: Florida. I have been in Boca Raton since Wednesday for Cibu love hspreading. I am still in Boca Raton. Because: Flight delay. Chose the mini skirt for obvious Floridian reasons: Warm climate, highlights subtlety fake tan legs (just a glow, please. I live in DC). The TART Collections tank is the perfect length, super soft and in ever-classic and salon code black and white stripes.

MINIMAListas can’t resist a classic set of STRIPES

Accessories: This tangerine dream cashmere scarf from Gilt.com is an oft forgotten option that I am always pleased to unearth when digging for tropical accessories in the dead of winter. It is a lovely color and provides just enough soft to warm slightly chilled shoulders. You know I love a pendant and this beaded Neiman Marcus jade circle brings me luck and a splash of heart chakra love. My Marc by Marc Jacobs Metropoli cross body features such an agreeable clash of colors and prints that it goes with everything I own. I arrived with my trusty Loeffler Randall Open Work Tote by my side because it is awesome:  the perforation detail is 90's revival cool and it is constructed in the holy grail tote shape: stands on its own and houses my computer, work papers, makeup bag and 5.75 loose lip glosses with ease.

MINIMAListas have such honed their wardrobe that they can throw    ANY ELEMENT at the wall and it will stick

Footwear: Let me tell you a story about these Loeffler Randall Sawyer sandals. This pair is a spring pre-purchase, snapped up in early January at 70% off retail and just waiting to make an entrance in South Florida. They arrived under the radar and went right to the back of the closet. My husband never noticed. When he dropped me off at DCA yesterday, a like-minded sophisticate breezed by us on her way to a gate. Matt noticed her shoes and said, “Wow, those are cool.” He looked down at mine and looked up confused. “You have the same shoes!” I took his word for it. Later, in the terminal, I spot my doppelganger. Indeed, same shoes. I note my approval. Twenty minutes later she’s seated on my flight in the row right behind mine. As we deplane she sees: “We have the same shoes!” Pleasantries ensue. We agree on cuteness and she offers a warning: “They aren’t comfortable.” I brush her off. These super chic shoes are the singular glue that connects every outfit in my bag. Three hours later a blister the size of Florida erupts on my ankle. I am forced to wear purple Nike Free Run 5.0 with dress clothes for the rest of the trip. Moral? Just because two chic strangers happen to buy the same chic shoes and board the same plane and are seated right next to each other doesn’t mean either one of them made the right decision.

MINIMAListas know that every great outfit has a better STORY

xoxo, Jenn
